KTC is a British company based in the West Midlands, best known for cooking oils and ghee supplied to households of many backgrounds across the UK. From oil it has grown into tinned vegetables, pulses, flour and rice, all in the same plain, practical packaging and in sizes that suit big families and busy kitchens.
The heart of the KTC range is oil: vegetable and rapeseed oil, coconut oil, corn and palm oil, olive oil and an edible mustard oil blend, with pure ghee and vegetable ghee beside them. The tins cover tomatoes, beans, chickpeas, saag and mango pulp, and there is gram flour too. KTC pure mustard oil, almond oil and castor oil are labelled for external use only, so they live with our hair oils and body massage oils, never with the cooking oils.
KTC rapeseed and vegetable oils are the everyday choice for deep frying samosas and bhajis, and the extended life versions suit kitchens that fry often. Butter ghee goes into the tarka for dal and the dough for parathas, while vegetable ghee is used for frying sweets such as jalebi. Plum tomatoes form the base of a karahi, chickpeas become chana masala in half an hour, besan makes pakora batter and kadhi, and mango pulp turns into lassi, shrikhand or mango kulfi.
Store large oil tins out of the light and decant a smaller bottle for the kitchen counter so the rest stays fresh. To compare KTC with other makers, browse our full ghee range and the Natco shelf of tins and pulses.
