Pavithram are the small rings of darbha grass worn on the ring finger during pooja, each blade knotted into a loop by hand. Darbha, also called kusha or dharbai, is the grass used in Hindu rites from the daily lamp to tharpanam and shraddha ceremonies, and the ring is put on before the ritual and taken off after. These come loose in a sealed bag. More items for the home shrine are in our Pooja Essentials range.
How to use it
Slip a ring onto the ring finger of the right hand before beginning, and take it off once the pooja is complete. Dried grass turns brittle, so soak a ring briefly in water if it needs to flex, and keep the bag closed and dry between use. This is a ritual item and is not food.
