Hamdard Rooh Afza is the classic concentrated sherbet syrup from Hamdard Laboratories in Karachi, made with sugar and distillates of fruit, screw pine (kewra) and rose. Its deep red colour and floral, cooling taste have made it a favourite drink to serve guests across South Asia for generations. The 800ml bottle is imported by Sams Marketing UK.
How to use it
The bottle recipe is 9ml of syrup, about two teaspoons, mixed with 270ml of ice cold water, or with cold milk and ice cubes for a pink rose milk. Stir it into falooda with basil seeds, vermicelli and ice cream, or drizzle straight over kulfi and vanilla ice cream as a topping. A jug of Rooh Afza with lemon and crushed ice makes an easy welcome drink for Dussehra and Diwali visitors.
