KTC Organic Virgin Coconut Oil is pressed directly from fresh, matured coconuts and is not refined, deodorised or hydrogenated, so it keeps the natural aroma and taste of coconut. KTC describes it as a versatile all-purpose cooking oil with a delicate coconut flavour. It is certified organic by the Soil Association and packed in the UK in a 500ml glass jar. How to use it
The label suggests it for frying, baking, roasting or spreading. Coconut oil is the everyday cooking fat of Kerala and Sri Lanka: heat a spoonful to splutter mustard seeds and curry leaves for thoran, avial, sambar or a fish curry, or use it to fry pappadam and banana chips. Roast vegetables or potatoes in it for a light coconut note. In baking, melt it and use in place of butter for vegan cakes, flapjacks and cookies, or spread a little on warm toast. Below 24°C the oil sets firm and white; stand the jar in warm water for a few minutes to liquefy it.
