Fudco Unsalted Daria is whole Bengal gram roasted until crisp, with a little turmeric and no salt at all, in a 700g bag. The chickpeas are small, with dark brown skins cracking to show the pale yellow centre, and they have a dry crunch and a toasty, nutty taste. How to use it
Eat a handful with tea, or fill a jar and keep it near the kettle. Toss daria with chopped onion, tomato, green chilli, coriander, lemon juice and chaat masala for a quick chana chaat, or mix it with peanuts, sev and puffed rice for your own namkeen, salted to taste. In Gujarati and South Indian kitchens roasted gram is also ground with coconut and green chilli into chutney for dosa and idli.
