Whole leaf spinach, cooked and canned in water, 530g drained. Whole leaves hold their shape through a curry or beside a roast in a way that chopped or pureed spinach never does, so this is the tin when the spinach should still look like spinach: a saag with visible leaf, a garlicky side, a layer in a lasagne. For a dal, the TRS Chopped Spinach 795g is easier work, and a puree is what you want for a smooth palak paneer.
How to use it
For palak with whole leaf, fry garlic, cumin and dried chilli in oil, add the drained leaves and toss until hot. The leaves keep their shape in a saag gosht or saag chicken, warm through with butter and black pepper as a side for a Sunday roast, and fold through pasta.
