Cooked spinach, chopped, canned with nothing else added, in the size to buy if saag is on your table more than occasionally. Chopped spinach keeps some leaf texture, which a puree does not, so this is the tin for saag aloo, dal palak, or any spinach curry where you want to see the leaf. How to use it
For saag aloo or saag paneer, cook onion, garlic, ginger and green chilli in oil, add the spinach and simmer. Stir it into a cooked dal before the tarka for dal palak, or fold it into keema palak or an egg bhurji at the end. Drained well, it fills a paratha or a samosa.
