Fares is a long-established Romanian maker of herbal teas, blending dried flowers, leaves and roots into infusions sold in tea bags. Romanian households keep a shelf of herbal teas the way Indian homes keep spices, each one brewed for a particular time of day or season, and many of these teas are single herbs sold under their everyday Romanian names.
We carry Fares in our herbal tea collection, part of the wider tea range. The line on our shelf is galbenele, the Romanian name for marigold or calendula, sold as tea bags of dried petals for Romanian and Moldovan shoppers who know it from home.
Marigold tea is brewed by steeping a bag in just-boiled water for five to ten minutes, covered to keep in the aroma, and drunk plain or with a little honey. It has a mild, slightly earthy floral taste and a deep golden colour. Many families drink it in the evening, and it also blends well with chamomile or mint for a gentler cup. Some people leave the cooled tea in the fridge and drink it over ice in summer.
Store herbal tea bags in their box in a dry cupboard, away from spices, as dried flowers absorb other smells easily. Use within the date on the pack for the best flavour. To compare, browse our green tea collection and the Feleacul shelf.
