Viswas Jackfruit Green Sliced is young, unripe jackfruit cut into slices and frozen, the tender green jackfruit used across Kerala and Sri Lanka in curries, thoran and polos. Green jackfruit has a mild flavour and a firm, meaty texture that takes on spices well, which is why it is also popular as a meat free alternative. How to use it
To thaw, remove the amount you need and place it in a bowl in the fridge overnight, or put it in a strainer under cold running water for quicker thawing. Simmer the slices in a coconut milk curry, cook into a Sri Lankan polos curry, or steam and toss with grated coconut, chilli and curry leaves for chakka thoran. Keep the rest frozen and do not refreeze after thawing.
