Mikado Corn on the Cob is two whole sweetcorn cobs, pre-cooked and sealed in a vacuum pack, so they can be eaten straight away or heated in a couple of minutes. The kernels are plump, yellow and sweet. Serve them with butter and salt, or the way Indian street sellers do bhutta, rubbed with lime, chilli powder and black salt.
How to use it
The pack says the corn is ready to eat. To heat it, put the cobs in boiling water for a few minutes, warm them on the grill, or pierce the film and microwave for 1 to 2 minutes at 600W. For a masala bhutta, char the cobs briefly over a flame or griddle, then rub with a cut lime dipped in chilli powder and black salt. The kernels can also be cut off for corn chaat or a sweetcorn soup.
