Heera Anardana Powder is dried pomegranate seeds ground to a coarse, dark red powder. It has a sweet and sour, slightly fruity tang, and it is the souring spice behind Punjabi chole, pindi chana and many chutneys. The coarse grind holds its flavour well in long cooked dishes and dry spice rubs. Find more souring spices in our Amchoor & Anardana range.
How to use it
Add a teaspoon to chole or pindi chana with the other ground spices, and let it simmer so the colour darkens. Mix it into the potato filling for aloo paratha and samosas, or stir it into a mint and coriander chutney. Sprinkle a little over fruit chaat, kebabs or roasted vegetables just before serving. Reseal the pack or move the powder to an airtight jar once opened.
