Coppenrath & Wiese Chocolate Gateau is a German bakery cake that is frozen as soon as it is finished, so it arrives in the shape it left the bakery. Cream makes up 46% of it, layered over a thin sponge base with cocoa through the filling and chocolate shavings scattered over the top. How to use it
Take all the packaging off while the cake is still frozen, stand it on a serving plate and leave it at room temperature for three hours. Cut it with a warm, dry knife so the cream layer stays sharp. Anything left over keeps a day in the fridge, and the pack says not to re-freeze it once it has thawed.
