Barilla Penne Lisce No. 71 is smooth penne from Barilla's classic range, made in Italy from durum wheat semolina and water and nothing else. Lisce means smooth: the tubes have no ridges, so a sauce coats them in a thin, glossy layer, which suits creamy sauces, a light tomato sugo or a pasta bake. How to use it
Bring a large pan of well salted water to the boil, add the penne and stir, then cook for 8 minutes for al dente. Drain, keeping a cup of the cooking water, and toss the pasta straight into the sauce with a splash of that water so it clings. Try it with arrabbiata, with a creamy chicken and mushroom sauce, or in a masala pasta with onion, tomato and green peas.
