Brillo

Brillo is a long established name in scouring pads, and the brand marks a century of making them on its packs. Each pad is a ball of fine steel wool soaked through with soap, so one wet pad does the scrubbing and the cleaning at once.

We stock Brillo in household cleaning, part of our personal care and household department. The range here is the multi-use soap pad in a five pad tray and a six pad box.

The pads come into their own on stainless steel and enamel. Use them on the dark crust left on a pressure cooker after a dal boils over, the base of a steel patila or biryani pot, a grill tray after tandoori chicken, a burnt milk pan or a cast iron tawa that needs a hard clean before reseasoning. Dampen the pad and rub gently; on baked on grease, wet the surface first and work it with a dry pad. Rinse the surface well after cleaning.

Keep Brillo off aluminium, non stick coatings, self-cleaning oven linings and anything that scratches easily. Wear gloves for long jobs if your skin is sensitive. Squeeze out a used pad and let it dry on a saucer, which slows rusting. For gloves and degreasers to use alongside, see the rest of the cleaning shelf, and for foil to line oven trays, browse kitchen foil and wraps.
