Bix

Bix All Purpose Degreaser is a spray cleaner in a large bottle, made to lift grease and oil. The label lists kitchen, oven and bathroom surfaces, fabrics, carpets, plastics and metals, and even engine parts and alloy wheels, and it leaves a fresh scent behind once wiped off.

On our shelves Bix sits in household cleaning, within the personal care and household department. It is a single, hard working bottle for the jobs a mild spray struggles with.

A kitchen that fries often needs it. Oil from tadka, pakoras and puris settles as a sticky film on the splashback behind the hob, on the extractor filter and on the tops of cupboards, and turmeric stains anything it touches. Spray the surface, leave it for a few seconds, then wipe with a damp cloth; on old grease, repeat once. It also brings up the base of a karahi or tawa that has gathered a dark ring, and a turmeric spot on a tea towel before washing.

Test it on a hidden patch first and keep it off wood. Wear gloves, open a window and store the bottle upright, out of reach of children. For gloves and cloths to use with it, see the rest of our cleaning shelf, and for foil to line the hob and oven trays, see kitchen foil and wraps.
