Pink salt is rock salt from the Pakistani mines, unrefined and left with the faint rose and rust colouring that the mineral traces give it. Fudco grind this one to a fine, free running crystal, so it dissolves in a pan and sits in a shaker without clumping into lumps. The 500g pouch reseals. Compare it with the rest of our Salt shelf.
How to use it
Use it anywhere table salt goes: in the dough, in the dal, over roasting vegetables and at the table. Because the grind is fine it salts at the same rate as ordinary cooking salt, so there is no need to adjust a recipe. For chaat and fruit it works alongside kala namak, which brings the sulphurous note that this one does not have.
