Shaheen Thai Jasmine Rice is AAA grade Thai hom mali, the long-grain fragrant rice grown in Thailand and sold under the Department of Foreign Trade's hom mali seal. The grains cook soft and slightly clinging with the natural jasmine aroma that suits Thai curries, stir-fries and fried rice, and it is also a favourite in Sri Lankan and Malaysian kitchens for everyday steamed rice. This 5kg woven sack with a carry handle suits households that cook rice daily.
How to use it
Follow the pack method: rinse one cup of rice, put it in a pan with one and three-quarter cups of water and bring to the boil. Cover, reduce the heat to low and simmer for eighteen minutes, then turn off the heat and leave the pan covered for ten more minutes before fluffing with a fork. For fried rice, cook the day before and chill, so the grains separate in the wok. It also steams well in a rice cooker at the same ratio.
