Hartley's Strawberry Jelly is a block of concentrated jelly cubes that makes one pint of bright red strawberry flavour jelly once melted and set. The front of the pack says fat free and no artificial colours, and the red comes from carmine and curcumin. It is set with pork gelatine and coloured with carmine, so it is not suitable for vegetarians or for a halal diet. Find more jellies and dessert mixes in our Jelly range.
How to use it
Separate the tablet into cubes and put them in a jug or bowl. Add half a pint (285ml) of boiling water and stir until dissolved, then add cold water to make up to one pint (570ml). Stir, pour into a mould or serving dish, leave to cool and refrigerate to set. Strawberry jelly is the usual layer in a trifle, under custard and cream, and it sets well over sliced strawberries or banana.
