Mathangi Frozen Peeled Baby Onion is small shallot-type onions, the chinna vengayam of Tamil kitchens and cheriya ulli of Kerala, peeled and frozen so they are ready to cook. How to use it
Take out what you need and return the rest to the freezer. Add them whole to sambar, vatha kuzhambu and theeyal, slice them for a tadka or ulli chammanthi, or roast them for a tray bake. They can go into a hot pan from frozen; allow a little extra cooking time.
