Mathangi Frozen Grated Coconut is fresh coconut, grated and frozen with nothing else added, so the snowy white flakes keep their sweet, milky flavour. It saves cracking and scraping a whole coconut and is a freezer staple for Kerala, Tamil and Sri Lankan cooking. Find more frozen coconut in our Frozen Coconut range.
How to use it
Take out what you need and return the rest to the freezer. Thaw the coconut at room temperature for a few minutes, or add it straight to a hot pan. Use it in thoran and poriyal, grind it with chillies for coconut chutney or masala pastes, stir it into avial and kootu, or fold it into puttu, appam batter and sweets.
