The Bru Instant 200g pouch is a refill pack of the coffee and chicory mix sold across South India, made from 70% coffee and 30% chicory. This is the Indian market pack, with a Tamil banner on the front promising a richer aroma than the earlier Bru Instant pack. A flexible pouch takes up less room in the cupboard than a jar and is the usual way Indian households top up the Bru jar they already keep by the stove. How to use it
Once opened, tip the powder into an air-tight jar or tin, as the pack advises, so it stays free flowing and does not clump in damp air. The pack makes a quick milky coffee: one teaspoon of Bru Instant in a cup, 100ml of hot milk, sugar to taste, then stir well. For a stronger cup with a frothy head, make it in a steel tumbler and pour back and forth into a davara a few times before serving.
