Parle is one of India's oldest and largest biscuit companies, and Parle-G, the glucose biscuit in the yellow and white wrapper, is often counted among the best selling biscuits in the world. The company also makes some of India's best known crackers, choco chip cookies and rusks, and its export packs are made in India for families abroad.
We carry Parle across biscuits and cookies in snacks and noodles. The glucose biscuits, including the richer Gold version, are in sweet biscuits. The choco chip cookies are in cookies, the orange cream sandwich cookies in cream biscuits, and the salted and the sweet and salty crackers, both in multipacks, in crackers. The milk rusk and cardamom rusk are in rusks and khari.
A glucose biscuit is made for a quick dunk in hot chai, straight to the mouth before it breaks. Rusk is the slower dunk for a long morning cup. The salted crackers are the base of a much loved Indian snack: top each with chopped onion, tomato and coriander, a pinch of chaat masala and a dot of green chutney. Crushed glucose biscuits also make a no bake biscuit cake, a favourite at children's parties.
Keep the packs in a cool, dry cupboard and close an opened pack tightly, since crackers and rusks lose their snap in damp air. The multipacks and family boxes let you open one inner pack at a time. For the tea, see masala chai and instant chai, and for savoury snacks to go alongside browse namkeen.
