Start shoppingBoost is the chocolate malt drink that a generation of South Indian children grew up stirring into hot milk. A malty, cocoa-rich powder for the morning glass, the after-school cup and a quick milkshake.

Boost is an Indian malted chocolate drink, sold for decades and especially popular in South India, where its advertising with star cricketers made it a household name. It is now part of the Hindustan Unilever range and sits alongside the other malt drinks that Indian families keep for children and adults alike.
We carry Boost in our malt drinks collection, part of milk and malt drinks in the tea, coffee and drinks department. Malt drinks are made with malted grain, and Boost is the chocolate style, with a deeper cocoa taste than a plain malt and a dark brown colour once mixed.
Most families stir a couple of spoons into a glass of warm milk at breakfast or after school, with or without sugar. It also blends into a cold milkshake with ice and banana, gets sprinkled dry over ice cream or a bowl of cornflakes, and is added to cake batter, brownies and chocolate barfi for a malty flavour. On a cold evening, a mug of Boost made with hot milk is a comforting alternative to tea or coffee.
Keep the lid tight and the jar in a dry cupboard, as malt powders absorb moisture and turn hard. Mix with a little milk into a paste first to avoid lumps, then top up and stir. To compare, browse our hot chocolate and milkshake range and the Horlicks shelf.
