Start shoppingAmbrosia rice pudding is the creamy, ready made dessert in a tin, soft rice cooked slowly in milk and sugar. Warm it in a pan, eat it cold from the fridge, or dress it up with fruit and jam.

Ambrosia is a British dessert brand from Devon, best known for its ready to serve custard and creamed rice pudding. Its tins and pots have been a fixture of British larders for generations, valued for a creamy, comforting pudding that needs nothing more than heating.
We carry Ambrosia rice pudding in our pudding mix collection, part of dessert mixes within baking, sugar and desserts. Unlike a dry mix, it comes fully cooked, so it sits closer to a ready meal than a recipe, which is exactly the point on busy evenings.
Heat it gently in a saucepan or the microwave and serve it with a spoon of strawberry jam, stewed apple or a grating of nutmeg in the British way. For a South Asian twist, warm it with a pinch of crushed cardamom, a few strands of saffron and chopped pistachios for a quick kheer, or chill it and top it with rose syrup and sliced mango. It makes an easy base for a rice pudding brûlée under a hot grill, and children often eat it cold straight from the bowl.
Unopened tins keep for a long time in a cool cupboard; once opened, move any leftover pudding to a covered bowl in the fridge and finish it within a couple of days. To compare, see our custard powder and kheer and payasam mix.
