VKS Pure Sesame Oil is expeller pressed and never chemically treated, so it keeps the natural flavour and aroma of the seed. The ingredients box lists sesame seed oil with a little jaggery, the way South Indian gingelly oil is traditionally made. It comes in a 5 litre bottle with a carry handle, which is the sensible size for a family that cooks with gingelly oil every day, or for a restaurant kitchen.
How to use it
Use it for everyday South Indian cooking: the tarka on sambar and kuzhambu, frying vadai and bajji, stir frying poriyal, and pouring over idli podi. It is a good oil for making pickles in quantity. Decant a smaller bottle for the hob, keep the big one capped in a cool cupboard out of the light, and use it within 24 months of packing.
