Haldiram's Coconut Shredded is fresh coconut flesh, finely shredded and frozen, so you have the moist, sweet coconut of South Indian and Sri Lankan kitchens without cracking and scraping a nut. Shredded coconut is the base of coconut chutney, thoran and poriyal, coconut sambol and many curry pastes, and it goes into sweets such as coconut ladoo and barfi. How to use it
The pack says to place the amount of coconut you need at room temperature until defrosted. Grind it with green chilli, ginger and roasted chana dal for chutney, toss it through stir fried beans or cabbage at the end of cooking, or blend it with spices for a coconut curry base. Reseal the bag and return the rest to the freezer straight away.
