Gold Winner gingelly oil 1L is a cold pressed sesame oil in a litre bottle, filtered but not refined, with the natural colour and aroma of the seed and no added chemicals or preservatives, as the label sets out plainly. Gingelly oil is the everyday cooking oil of Tamil Nadu, so choose this bottle when a recipe calls for nallennai and you want the larger size; choose the Ganesh 750ml if you use sesame oil less often.
How to use it
Use it for the tarka in sambar and rasam, for tossing with tamarind rice, and for sealing a jar of pickle so the top does not spoil. It shallow fries vada and bonda well at moderate heat. A teaspoon stirred into idli podi or over hot rice with ghee is how much of Tamil Nadu eats it.
