Funky Soul Spices Basil is dried basil leaf, crumbled and packed in a 14g square glass jar with a flip top shaker lid. The leaves are dark green flakes with the sweet, slightly peppery smell of basil, softer than fresh but steady through long cooking. How to use it
Shake a teaspoon into a tomato sauce, soup or ratatouille while it simmers so the leaves soften and release their flavour. Mix it with olive oil, garlic and salt for garlic bread, or sprinkle it over pizza before it goes in the oven. Rub the flakes between your fingers as you add them to wake up the aroma. Close the lid after each use.
