Fudco Tukmaria is a 100g bag of basil seeds, also called sabja or falooda seeds, grown in India. The seeds are tiny, black and dry in the bag, and in water they swell within minutes into soft beads wrapped in a clear jelly with a gentle crunch at the centre. That texture is what goes into a glass of falooda, a rose milk or a cold lemonade. Find more small seeds for drinks and cooking in our Poppy & Basil Seeds range.

      How to use it

Rinse a teaspoon of tukmaria in a sieve, then soak it in a cup of water for 15 to 20 minutes until every seed has a jelly coat. Drain and spoon it into falooda with rose syrup, vermicelli and ice cream, or stir it through cold milk, nimbu pani, sherbet or a fruit drink. A spoonful also works in kulfi, kheer or a bowl of yoghurt and fruit. Use more water than you think, as the seeds take up a lot of it.
