Fudco Soya Chunks are dried pieces of textured soya protein, the soya bari or meal maker that North and South Indian kitchens cook in place of meat. Dry, they are light and spongy; soaked, they swell and take on whatever masala they are cooked in. They carry 47g of protein per 100g dry weight. Find more soya in our Soya Chunks range.
How to use it
Drop the chunks into boiling salted water for a few minutes until soft, then drain, rinse in cold water and squeeze out as much water as you can so they soak up the gravy. Cook them in an onion and tomato masala with peas or potatoes, add them to a vegetable pulao or biryani, or fry them dry with chilli, curry leaves and pepper. A cup of dry chunks swells to two or three times its size.
