Fudco Rajapuri Turmeric Powder is ground haldi from the Rajapuri variety, grown in India and packed in the UK, with no preservatives and no artificial colours according to the pack. It brings the golden colour and warm, earthy taste that dal, sabzi and most curries start with. The 800g bag is the size for a busy family kitchen or for making pickles in batches. How to use it
Stir a quarter to half a teaspoon into the hot oil with the onions or the tarka and cook it for a few seconds before adding tomatoes, vegetables or meat. Add a pinch to dal while it boils, mix it with salt and chilli as a rub for fish or chicken, and use it in lime, mango and mixed vegetable pickles. The pack says to cook it before eating. Decant a smaller amount into a spice tin for daily use and keep the rest sealed.
