Fudco Cumin Powder, also called jeera powder, is ground cumin seed with the warm, earthy and slightly smoky flavour that runs through Indian, Middle Eastern and Mexican cooking. The 400g bag is a size for kitchens that cook curry several times a week, where cumin goes into almost every pot. The cumin is grown in India and packed in the UK. How to use it
Add a teaspoon with the turmeric, chilli and coriander powders once the onions are soft, and fry for a minute before the tomatoes go in. Stir it into raita, chaas and chaat with a pinch of salt, or toast a little in a dry pan first for a deeper, nuttier flavour. It belongs in rajma, chana, aloo jeera, keema, falafel and chilli con carne. The pack says to cook before eating. Decant some into a jar and keep the bag sealed away from light.
