Enrich Muthu Samba Rice is a Sri Lankan samba rice, one of the small, round grained rices the island cooks every day. Muthu means pearl in Tamil, a fair description of the short, pale grains in the bag. Samba cooks up soft and slightly sticky with a fuller taste than long grain rice, and it soaks up a thin curry gravy well, which is why Sri Lankan rice and curry is so often served on it. How to use it
The pack gives a simple method. Wash the rice 2 to 3 times in cold water, then add 2 to 2½ cups of water to every cup of rice in a medium saucepan or a rice cooker. Bring it to the boil, turn the heat down to its lowest setting and let it simmer for 20 to 25 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and leave the rice to steam for another 12 minutes before serving.
