Enrich Mottakaruppan Rice is a Sri Lankan red rice with a deep russet grain, packed in Sri Lanka under the Enrich Superior label. Mottakaruppan is a traditional red rice variety, the kind served with fish curry, dhal and a fried sambol at the everyday table. It cooks to a firm, separate grain with a nutty, earthy taste that stands up to strong, sour and spicy curries. See more red and country rice in our Red Rice range.
How to use it
The pack gives a simple method. Wash the rice 2 to 3 times in cold water, then add 2 to 2½ cups of water to every cup of rice in a medium saucepan or a rice cooker. Bring it to the boil, turn the heat down to its lowest setting and let it simmer for 20 to 25 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and leave the rice to steam for another 12 minutes before serving.
