Dr. Oetker Original Pudding Vanilla is cornflour, vanilla flavouring and beta carotene for colour, and it cooks with milk into a soft yellow vanilla pudding, the classic set dessert of Central and Eastern European kitchens. A 40g sachet and half a litre of milk make about four portions, sweetened with as much sugar as you choose. It also works as a quick custard style layer in trifles. How to use it
Mix the sachet with 2 spoons of sugar and 4 spoons of milk from the 500ml. Bring the rest of the milk to the boil, take it off the heat and whisk in the mixture. Boil again on a low heat for about a minute, stirring gently until smooth. Pour the hot pudding into moulds or bowls rinsed with cold water and leave to cool. Serve with berries, stewed fruit or a drizzle of chocolate sauce, or layer it over sponge and jelly.
