CBL Lanka Soy Malu Soy Ambul Thiyal is part of the Malu Soy seafood flavour range: soya nuggets with a fish flavoured seasoning for ambul thiyal, the dry, sour and peppery fish curry of southern Sri Lanka. The sachet brings curry powder, soya sauce powder, a little sugar and citric acid, standing in for the goraka that makes the classic dish sour. How to use it
Soak the nuggets in salted hot water for 5 minutes, strain and squeeze them out thoroughly. Dissolve the flavour mix in a cup (200ml) of water. Heat 9ml of oil and temper ginger, garlic, rampe, curry leaves, onions and green chillies, add the nuggets and saute well, then pour in the dissolved mix and cook at a low flame until the pieces are coated and almost dry. Serve with rice, dhal and a sambol.
