Ashoka Apple Murabba is apple preserved in a sugar syrup until the fruit turns soft, glossy and deep amber, a sweet North Indian preserve in the same family as the classic amla murabba. Apple makes up 55% of the jar, with just sugar, water, citric acid for a gentle sharpness and a preservative. How to use it
Lift out a piece with a clean, dry spoon and enjoy it on its own after a meal, or alongside paratha, puri or thepla at breakfast. Chop it small and fold it through plain yoghurt, or spoon the fruit and a little syrup over kheer, rice pudding, vanilla ice cream or a bowl of porridge. A few diced pieces brighten a fruit chaat or a dessert platter. Keep the lid closed and the jar out of direct sunlight between servings.
