Ashoka Amla Murabba is whole Indian gooseberries, amla, preserved in a sugar syrup until they turn soft, translucent and amber. The fruit makes up 55% of the jar, and the syrup tames amla's sharp, astringent bite into a sweet, gently tangy preserve. Murabba is a traditional North Indian favourite, eaten one piece at a time after a meal or with breakfast, and Ashoka packs it in a generous 1kg jar. How to use it
Lift out a whole amla with a clean, dry spoon and enjoy it on its own, or slice it over plain yoghurt. A piece alongside paratha or puri makes a classic breakfast, and the syrup can be spooned over rice pudding or kheer. Chop a murabba into small pieces to stir through a fruit chaat or to top a bowl of porridge. Keep the lid closed and the jar away from direct sunlight between servings.
