Annam Ponni Boiled Rice is a parboiled ponni rice packed in a 10kg woven bag with handles. The pack states it is produce of India. Ponni is a medium grain variety grown in Tamil Nadu and is the everyday rice in many Tamil and Sri Lankan Tamil homes, valued for grains that cook soft and fluffy without turning sticky. The parboiling keeps the grains firm through cooking and reheating.
How to use it
The pack gives three methods using 1 cup (200g) of rice. Gentle boil: cook in 6 to 8 cups of water for 12 to 14 minutes uncovered, then drain. Covered pan: simmer in 1 and a half cups of water for 12 to 14 minutes, then rest covered for 5 to 10 minutes. If the rice is hard, use more water next time.
