Inndu Sri Nannari Syrup is a sweet Sri Lankan cordial made with extract of sarsaparilla root, known as nannari in Tamil. It has the gently earthy, vanilla-like flavour that makes nannari sherbet a favourite street drink across Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, and this 750ml glass bottle makes around 18 glasses.
How to use it
Shake the bottle well, then mix one part syrup with four parts chilled water, as the label recommends. For the classic sherbet, add a squeeze of lime and a spoonful of soaked sabja (basil) seeds and serve over ice. It also works with soda water, in a lemonade jug for a Diwali gathering, or poured over crushed ice as a quick gola. Once opened, keep the bottle in the fridge.
