Tilda Pure Original Basmati in the 500g bag is the same rice as the family size: long, aromatic grains grown in the Himalayan foothills, purity tested and aged for up to 18 months so they cook light and fluffy. The pack gives about eight servings of 60g, a sensible size for a smaller household. It is gluten free.
How to use it
The side of the pack gives the four steps. Rinse the rice in cold water, add it to a large pan of boiling water and simmer for 10 to 12 minutes, drain in a sieve, then serve. For the absorption method, put one cup of rinsed rice in a pan with one and a half cups of water and a pinch of salt, bring to the boil, cover tightly and cook on the lowest heat for ten minutes, then rest off the heat for five minutes before fluffing with a fork. For biryani, par boil for six minutes before layering.
