Tilda Pure Original Basmati 1kg

Tilda Pure Original Basmati is the blue bag that has been in British kitchens for over half a century. The rice is grown in the Himalayan foothills, selected for purity and aged for up to 18 months, which gives the long, slender grains their aroma and lets them cook up light, fluffy and separate. It is approved by the Craft Guild of Chefs and is gluten free.

How to use it

Allow about 60g of dry rice per person. Rinse the rice in cold water until it runs clear, then tip it into a large pan of boiling water. Simmer for 10 to 12 minutes until the grains are tender but still have a little bite, drain well in a sieve and leave to stand for a minute before fluffing with a fork. For pilau, fry whole spices and onion in ghee, add the rinsed rice and one and a half times its volume of stock, cover and cook on the lowest heat until the liquid has gone.
