How to use it
Decant a jar for the masala dabba and keep the rest sealed. For tadka, heat ghee or oil, add the seeds and let them crackle before the onions or dal go in. Dry roast a cupful in a heavy pan, cool and grind to keep a jar of roasted jeera powder for chaas, raita and chaat. For Navratri fasting, cumin seasons sabudana khichdi, vrat aloo and samak rice with rock salt and green chilli.
