Black Seed Honey is a blend of 75% pure forest honey with 15% black seed (nigella), 5% ginger and 5% bee pollen, packed in Great Britain from a blend of EU honeys. Black seed, known as kalonji or habba sawda, is a familiar flavour across South Asian and Middle Eastern kitchens, and here it gives the dark honey a warm, slightly peppery, nutty edge alongside the ginger.
How to use it
Stir the jar well before each use, as the seeds and pollen settle. Spread a spoonful on warm toast or paratha, drizzle it over Greek yoghurt with chopped dates and walnuts, or stir it into a mug of warm water with lemon. It also makes a good glaze for roasted carrots or squash on a festive table. If the honey crystallises in cold weather, stand the jar in a bowl of hot water until it turns clear again.
