MD Sherbet Syrup is a rose-flavoured cordial from Lanka Canneries, the Colombo company behind the MD range. Bright red and sweet with a floral rose note, it is the bottle Sri Lankan families reach for to make cold sherbet for guests, and it doubles as a quick rose syrup for falooda, milkshakes and desserts. The 750ml glass bottle makes plenty of glasses.
How to use it
Do not drink it neat: dilute one part cordial with four parts chilled water and stir well, adding ice and a squeeze of lime if you like. For a festive rose milk, stir a couple of tablespoons into cold milk. Layer it into falooda with basil seeds, vermicelli and ice cream, or drizzle a little over kulfi, shaved ice or a bowl of vrat-friendly fruit chaat. No extra sugar is needed. Shake the bottle before use.
