Wijaya Crushed Pepper is 100% black pepper from Sri Lanka, crushed to a coarse, even grain. Wijaya Products of Kalutara, established in 1989, pack it for export, and Sri Lankan pepper is known for its strong, clean heat. The 100g pack is imported into the UK by C and C Suppliers of Merthyr Tydfil.
How to use it
Use a teaspoon or two in Sri Lankan black pepper chicken or a devilled potato fry, adding it with the onions so it toasts slightly. Sprinkle over fried eggs, omelettes and kothu roti, or into a lentil soup for warmth. On Navratri fasting days it seasons vrat aloo and sabudana khichdi with cumin and sendha namak, and a pinch over roasted makhana or fruit chaat makes an easy festive snack.
