Uthra Black Pepper Coarse is Indian black pepper, kala mari, ground to a coarse, crunchy grind and labelled as superior quality. It is a product of India, packed in Bengaluru by Uthra Foods and imported into the UK by Asian Traders. The 800g pack is a sensible size for households and small kitchens that use pepper in quantity.
How to use it
Add a spoonful at the end of rasam, pepper kuzhambu or chettinad chicken so the heat stays sharp. Mix with salt, lemon and ginger garlic paste as a quick rub for grilled paneer, fish or lamb. For Navratri fasting dishes, season sabudana khichdi, vrat aloo and samo rice with coarse pepper, cumin and sendha namak. Scatter over fried makhana or fruit chaat for festive guests. Decant into a smaller jar and keep the main pack sealed.
