TRS Golden Sultanas are pale, plump, golden dried grapes with a soft bite and a gentle honeyed sweetness. They are lightly coated in sunflower oil to keep them separate and use sulphur dioxide to hold their bright colour. The pack is filled in the UK by Vibrant Foods, the company behind the TRS range.
How to use it
Fry a handful in a spoon of ghee for a few seconds until they puff, then scatter over pulao, biryani or semolina kesari. Stir them into rice kheer, sevaiyan or sabudana kheer in the last minutes of cooking so they plump in the milk, a classic for Navratri and Diwali. They also go into gajar halwa, sweet pongal, fruit cake and home-made trail mix with almonds and cashews for guests.
