Soghaat Dhage Wali Mishri is traditional thread rock sugar: large, clear sugar crystals grown slowly on cotton threads, which you can still see running through the lumps. The pack lists a single ingredient, rock sugar, and the crystals have a clean, mild sweetness that melts slowly on the tongue. This 200g bag is imported by Nuovo Foods in West Bromwich and suits home puja shelves as well as the kitchen.
How to use it
Mishri is a classic offering for Navratri puja, kanya pujan and Janmashtami, often set out with makhana, dried fruit and fresh fruit as prasad. Break a lump into small pieces to serve with saunf as an after-dinner mukhwas, or stir a few crystals into warm milk, chai or a glass of thandai. Crushed mishri also sweetens panchamrit and charnamrit for temple and home ceremonies. Keep the crystals in a dry, airtight jar once the bag is opened.
