Laziza Firni Khas Kewra is a ground rice pudding mix flavoured with kewra (screw pine), pistachio and cardamom. Firni is smoother and silkier than kheer because the rice is ground fine, and it is traditionally set in shallow clay bowls and served chilled. This 150g box from Pakistan serves six to eight.
How to use it
Heat one litre of milk until it is about to boil, then add the sachet while stirring. Cook on a medium flame for 12 to 18 minutes until very thick, stirring at intervals at first and then continuously so it does not stick to the pan. Pour into small bowls or clay matkas, cool, and chill until set. Decorate with chopped pistachios, almond slivers and edible silver leaf for a Diwali or Eid dessert spread.
